Gestalt Coaching

When we strive for change, focusing on our goals and desired future-state, we work too hard, and progress seems elusive. It isn’t until we abandon this “drive” – for a moment – and rather organically attempt to remain who we are, that authentic change occurs. Put simply: when we stop trying to change, change happens.

In Gestalt coaching, the coach and coachee enter into a space of open exploration, where challenges and support come into focus. Rather than analytically evaluating each challenge and preparing an action plan, the coach serves as a full partner on a journey that illuminates the barriers in front of the coachee and sparks ideas for how to surmount them. Those who have experienced other kinds of coaching remark how effortlessly and quickly they reach these a-ha moments with the Gestalt process.

For professionals, Gestalt coaching is an important tool in the ongoing work of improvement and transformation, with a number of benefits:
•	Gaining a clear-eyed understanding of one’s strengths and opportunities for development
•	Developing and articulating a clear vision for oneself, one’s team and the broader organization
•	Marshaling the trust, support and followership of colleagues and teams
•	Identifying and resolving conflicts with greater calm and ease
•	Breaking out of thought patterns that distract or undermine one’s goals

Gestalt coaching also supports us in our personal journeys:
•	Building self-awareness and agency in the events of our lives
•	Uncovering hidden sources of strength and power within oneself
•	Connecting the dots between the different roles we play
•	Improving our ability to navigate the ups and downs of our relationships
